August 1–31
August 2026
New course activities, picture sharing, and reading support.
This month at Talkio
August brought more ways to learn inside a course. Listening activities ask learners to type the word or sentence they hear, and matching activities pair words, pictures, and related items. Conversations can include images, and reading guides help with unfamiliar writing systems. On mobile, useful words can be saved to the wordbook automatically.
Learning Hub teachers can build the new listening and matching activities into courses and see clearer student progress information. We continued refining how lessons, conversations, and saved words work together, while fixing smaller problems that can make practice harder to follow.
For learners
Listen and write in course lessons
Courses can now include listening activities where you type the word or sentence you hear.
Match words and pictures
New matching activities let you pair related items or connect an image with the right answer in a course.
Share a picture during practice
You can add an image to a conversation and talk about what it shows with your tutor.
Reading help for unfamiliar scripts
Turn on a reading guide beneath supported chat messages to see how words in another writing system are pronounced.
Save useful words automatically
The mobile app can add words from your practice sessions to your wordbook automatically when you turn on the setting.
For Learning Hub teachers
